Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of plant-derived, aromatic essential oils to promote physical and psychological well-being. It is sometimes used in combination with massage and other therapeutic techniques as part of a holistic treatment approach.
Aromatherapy, also referred to as Essential Oil Therapy, can be defined as the art and science of utilizing naturally extracted aromatic essences from plants to balance, harmonize and promote the health of body, mind and spirit.
Aromatherapy is actually a form of herbal medicine. However, instead of using the entire herb, it employs the fragrant "essential oil" that is released when a fresh herb is compressed or subjected to chemical extraction.
